Storm and Flooding in a Lafayette Home Crawl Space

The groundwater rushed into this crawl space unabated and drenched the soil, piers, and saturated the insulation beyond saving. We worked hard to pump out the standing water that was about four inches high. The owner decided that he wanted us to install a vapor barrier and a dehumidification system after we took about a week to dry out the soil and structural materials. The second photo shows the finished result before we installed new insulation. This system will also inhibit the growth of mold and decrease the chances of a subterranean termite infestation.
